is an internationally acclaimed association in the field of tourism. A conference is held annually and a journal is published quarter-annually. Its quality research papers are distributed all over the world.

The purposes of APTA are to further facilitate quality tourism research especially in the Asia-Pacific area, to share research achievements and to exchange ideas between academics and their counterparts in the business world.

The idea of the association was first initiated by Dr. Hai-Sik Sohn, professor emeritus of Dong-A University, Korea with recognized tourism scholars in Asia Pacific region. The association is comprised of seventeen Asia Pacific countries and regions including Australia, Canada, China, Macao, Guam, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Korea, Malasia, New Zealand, Phillippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and the USA. The inaugural conference of the APTA was held in Busan, Korea on September 21-24, 1995. The annual APTA conference has been held now for over a decade and established itself as one of the most important tourism conference in the region.
