The APTA (Asia Pacific Tourism Association) 2024 International Conference was successfully held from July 3 to 5 at the Galaxy International Convention Center (GICC) in Macao. Co-hosted by Macao University of Tourism, the conference brought together 250 delegates from 21 countries and regions to share insights, research findings, and strategies in the field of hospitality and tourism management.

Keynote Speech

The keynote speech on "International Cooperation in Tourism Field: From Asian Perspectives" was delivered by Dr. Jong Woo KANG, Director of the Regional Cooperation and Integration Division at the Asian Development Bank (ADB), during the opening ceremony.

The conference featured a diverse range of presentations, including 132 stand-up presentations, 15 poster presentations, and 23 Thesis-in-progress (TiP) Session presentations. Delegates discussed various aspects of hospitality and tourism management, sharing their research findings and practical insights.

  1. APTA Graduate Panel Session - Navigating the Digital Horizon: The Next Phase of Post-Graduate Education and Research in Hospitality and Tourism

The panel session, moderated by Prof. SooCheong (Shawn) Jang from Purdue University, addressed the challenges and opportunities brought by digital transformation and AI in the field of hospitality and tourism. Panelists included Prof. Kaye Chon from Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Dr. Fevzi Okumus from the University of Central Florida USA, and Dr Chris Ryan from the University of Waikato, New Zealand.

2. APTA Panel Session - Empowering Women in Tourism & Hospitality: Perspectives from Young Generation

This session, moderated by Dr. Yulan Yuan (Thunghai University) and Dr. Shirley Guevarra (University of the Philippines), focused on strategies for promoting women's success in multicultural workplaces. The panelists included Ms. Wilma Moran-Estaura (AyalaLand Hotels & Resorts Corporation), Dr. Heewon Kim (Macau University of Science and Technology), and Ms. Rebecca Lee (Galaxy Entertainment Group).

APJTR Best Paper of the Year 2023

The award went to "How online travel agencies’ logo design promotes purchase intention: A behavioral and neuroscientific interpretation of consumers’ construal level" by Cecelia Natanael Gunawan, Yen-Jung Chen, and Liwei Hsu, published in APJTR 28(1).

The best paper in the Thesis-in-progress (TiP) Session was awarded to "
